People
  • Dang Dang Walking

Dang Dang Walking campaign is an ongoing effort since 2009 to raise awareness about the importance of blood sugar management and the risks associated with diabetic foot, a common complication of diabetes. Every year on World Diabetes Day, November 14th, we provide diabetic patients with protective footwear and diabetic socks to aid in foot care, along with organizing walking campaigns to encourage blood sugar control.

  • The Memory Café

Memory café campaign, a collaboration between Handok and the Seoul Metropolitan Government since 2018, aims to improve dementia awareness. The café employs individuals with mild cognitive impairment or early-stage dementia as baristas, offering both mobile and stationary services. The goal is to foster a society that understands dementia and supports inclusive living.

  • HI Volunteer Corps

The HI Volunteer Corps consists of Handok employees who volunteer to support the well-being of vulnerable communities. They are actively involved in blood donation, free prostate screening services, and other health-related volunteering activities in coordination with local welfare facilities, research centers, production plants, and regional offices.

  • Scholarship and Research Support

Handok recognizes and encourages healthcare professionals contributing to medical advancements through various awards. Additionally, the Handok Jeseok Foundation provides annual scholarships to medical and pharmaceutical students, including those from North Korea, and fund researchers studying basic medical sciences.

  • Handok Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy

Founded in 1964 and managed by the Handok Jeseok Foundation, the Handok Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy stands as Korea’s pioneering corporate and specialty museum. With a collection exceeding 20,000 medical artifacts from across the globe, including recognized treasures and significant scientific resources, the museum dedicates itself to the acquisition, study, conservation, and display of these historical items. It also serves as an educational hub, offering programs that link history with learning, and acts as a vital institution for both research and public education.

  • Guardians of Intangible Cultural
    Heritage

Since 2009, in partnership with the Cultural Heritage Administration, the Guardians of Intangible Cultural Heritage program has provided free health check-ups to Living National Treasures, who are at risk of chronic diseases due to old age, in collaboration with 11 hospitals nationwide.

  • Life Gallery

Located within the Handok Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Life Gallery showcases contemporary art pieces themed around life and living. Regular exhibitions offer a variety of artworks and experiences, and since 2023, simultaneous exhibitions have been held at the Handok Future Complex in Magok, Seoul. The gallery supports emerging artists in contemporary art and contributes to the community through cultural sharing activities.

  • Cultural and Artistic Sharing Activities

Handok and the Handok Jeseok Foundation lead patronage activities, hosting events like the Guardians of Human Cultural Heritage Participation Square/Charity Performances to share and experience the value of traditional culture. They also organize classical music concerts in the evening for office workers, contributing to cultural and artistic sharing in the community.

  • Upcycling Activities

In collaboration with Beautiful Store, the annual Beautiful Saturday event sells items donated by employees, with proceeds going to charity. Handok also donates discarded laboratory items to nearby universities for recycling. The company leads upcycling efforts by creating eco-bags from waste materials, turning coffee grounds into soap and beautiful plant pots, and donating them to welfare facilities.

  • Environmental Cleanup

Handok consistently conducts environmental cleanup activities around the Han River Park near its Seoul headquarters and the Eumseong Industrial Complex in Chungbuk. Plogging activities are held throughout the year, allowing employees to participate in clean-up efforts without constraints of time and place.
